All about power and power generating.

The australian industrial designer Daniel Hull conceptualized a water turbine. With this one can easy and quick generate electric power by hydro power.
It consist of a anchor, a accu and a small, foldable water turbine.
The transportbox houses also the accu and inverter.
Packed together it can be carried easily over the shoulder.

Now there is only a manufacturer needed...

The US-based Corporation Solopower offers elastic photovoltaic modules. Low weight and easy to mount, these modules are perfect for bent hall roofs.  Thanks to a newly copper-indium-gallium-selenid-composition (CIGS) the efficiency is up to 19.9 %.

Some possible fields of application:

  • bent facades
  • roofs
  • balloons/airships
  • airplanes
  • bags and backpacks
  • tents/camping
  • busses, trucks and cars
  • Laptop cases
  • foldable universal modules

Maybe in the near future one can use such solar modules instead of foil to darken the car’s windows, who knows?

Nearly silently the Fraunhofer ICT developes a storing technique which, at least in stationary range, cab replace conventional Lead-Acid-Batteries: The Redoxflow-Battery. For that two liquid electrolytes flow through a membrane and generate electric power. The amount of  stored energy depends on the size of the tanks. So it is easy scalable.
Combined with solar panels on the roof of a House or a wind generator, can so a autonomous power supply be realized. But also linked to a power network can these accus deliver their stored energy over decades to the network. So can for example the morning-peaks be absorbed and following the power plants dimensioned smaller.
In the meantime even a use in electric cars is thinkable.
